DOES KAMBO LEAVE A SCAR?

Yes, it is very small and simply appears as a discoloration or lack of pigmentation in the skin. Most people think their scars are cool!  And some people choose patterns based on how it will look after it heals. Over time, depending on the skin type, the scar will fade to a minor blemish.

Where is Kambo applied to the body?

Kambo placement varies based on individual needs and intentions. If it is our first session together you will most likely receive 1-4 Kambo points on either your left or right upper arm.  However in following sessions we will consider application on the legs, arms, abdomen, chest, back, and ears (auricular) as well as major energetic vortices (chakras and meridians).

Is Kambo Legal in the USA?

Yes. While it is not FDA approved, Kambo is legal in the U.S.

Is Kambo Psychoactive?

No. Kambo is non-psychoactive. Kambo is considered a somatic experience, with participants being fully present in their physical bodies.

How long is the experience?

The dance with Kambo is relatively short, lasting usually between 20 and 50 minutes per person.  With Camino Kambo the whole process of discussion, somatic therapy and Kambo can last 3-6 hours depending how many people are in your ceremony and the durations of each person's medicine journey.

Can I book a 1:1 Session for Kambo?

It is possible to purge with Kambo in a variety of ways.

How Might I Purge?

  • Upper Purging or Vomiting is considered the most common way to purge with Kambo application.  It is verification of cleansing happening in the Liver, Gall Bladder, Stomach, Pancreas, Duodenum.

  • Lower Purging or Evacuation of Bowels happens very commonly and sometimes in conjunction with upper purging. This is verification of detoxification happening in the lower Small intestines and Large intestines.

  • Energetic, Emotional and Spiritual Purging happens commonly as tremors, shaking, crying and vocalizing. Kambo’s purge isn’t just physical. You might find yourself riding waves of various emotions, from vulnerability to relief. It’s all part of the process, allowing you to release dormant, buried or inherited emotions and emerge more in tune with your Truest self.

  • Sweating can happen as a pairing to physically cleansing the circulatory and lymphatic system of stagnation.

  • Tetany (Claw or Lobster Hands) can be present for a portion of the process. This is often considered to be a sign of letting go of stored stress, over working or workaholic syndrome.

  • Euphoria can set in during or after the purgative process, you might feel a sense of calm, peace, ease, love, lightness, clarity, and rejuvenation. It can be considered rebirthing process as you shed old ways of being and welcome space to step into a new way of being.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Though Kambo is an incredible ally for many physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dis-orders, Kambo is NOT for everyone. There are conditions for which Kambo is contraindicated.  Please be honest with yourself (and your practitioner) when considering if Kambo is right for you:

    • Pregnancy & while Breastfeeding

    • Organ Transplant Recipients

    • Epilepsy and Those experiencing seizures of any sort

    • Those with Addison’s Disease

    • Those experiencing Very High and Very Low Blood Pressure

    • Those with History of Stroke, Pacemaker, Aneurism, Clotting Factors

    • Kidney or Liver disease or Pancreatitis

    • Those diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder and similar conditions

    • Ehlers Danlos Syndrome

    • People undergoing Chemotherapy & Radiation and up to 6wks post treatment

    • Addiction (including prescription or street drug, alcohol, sex, etc.)

    • Auto-Immune Conditions

    • Surgery with-in the past year

    • Asthma or other lung conditions

    • Severe Allergies

    • Bufo or MDMA Usage

    • Those on Any and All Prescription Medications including Birth Control, Steroids, Anti-Biotics, Sleep-Aids, etc.

    • People taking immune-suppressants for auto immune disorders

    • Women undergoing fertility treatment

    • History of eating disorders

    • Active drug or alcohol addiction

    • People taking regular doses of slimming/diet pills, serotonin or sleeping supplements (prescription sleeping aids, or “natural” sleep supplements)

    • People who have fasted for 7 days before Kambo (long term or water fasting)

    • Colonics, enemas, liver flushes or any water-based detox should be avoided 7-days on either side of sitting with Kambo

    • People who plan to use the sauna or practice “hot yoga” 3-days before (or after) Kambo.

    • Boerhaave’s Syndrome (spontaneous rupture of the esophagus)

    • Severe injury, or trauma to the esophagus from endoscopy, or injury to the neck

    • Tumors or Ulcers in the throat

    • Gastro-intestinal Reflux

    • Untreated eosinophilic esophagitis

    • Esophagus Varices

    • Portal Hypertension

    • If you’re taking or have recently stopped taking any medications

    • If you’re taking or have recently stopped taking any diet/slimming pills

    • If you’re regularly taking anti-diuretic medication or sports drinks

    • If you have ever been, or are currently bulimic or anorexic

    • If you have liver or kidney problems

    • If you have any chronic or serious health issues (chronic fatigue, arthritis, migraines, thyroid conditions, etc)

    • If you have diabetes or blood sugar concerns

    • Have any fears/phobias

    • Had surgery recently

    • Had any viral conditions (lymes, hepatitis, dengue)
