Born wild, Guided by Nature

Heather Dexter ND

Wild Beginnings

I grew up barefoot and feral, on 180acres in NoWhereVille, Michigan. My Home was in the trees, the horse pasture and the veterinary clinic my parents owned and operated. My childhood merged wild with domesticated. My father, DVM placed the importance and well-being of two-legged, four-legged and winged ones as equals. I learned deep care for creatures and felt deeply cared for by them in return. I didn’t have dolls. I had a baby raccoon, bunnies, horses, cats, dogs, an owl and endless creatures to tend and aid in mending over the course of childhood. My best friends and greatest comfort in this world are the creatures.

Seeking Truth, Teaching Balance

Growing up, I struggled to find my place in the Human Framework of the world. Nothing fit quite right. Still I continued to seek belonging. Attending MSU I changed my major six times and finally found footing in the College of Ag and Natural Resources. Something about it felt like home. I graduated with a master’s degree in Agriscience and Natural Resources Extension and Education and found myself teaching high school for 6yrs. Fast forward to the birth of each kiddo, my search for Truth in Identity deepened. I developed a passion for Natural Healing, Natural Parenting and Natural Living. I left the high school environment but my investment in educating and teaching continued to play a huge role in my service to community. I became a Family Oriented Traditional Naturopathic Doctor, ever hunting natural remedies to best serve in restoring balance to the Dis-Ease that exists within the clientele I serve. The term "doctor" originates from the Latin word "docere," which means "to teach." This is where I belong. Providing service through depth in inquiry for others to dig deep into their core to unravel their truth.

Since 2008, I’ve taken a well-rounded journey through a variety of Natural Healing Modalities and Self- Help Therapies becoming trained or certified in Reiki, Childbirth Education, Doula Work, Trauma Sensitive Therapeutic Yoga, Emotion & Body Coding, E4Life Bioenergetic Field Mapping, Breath Work, Kambo Application, Equine Mirroring.

I have been assisting clients in healing naturally in Grand Rapids, MI since 2011. I continue to metamorphose, providing the West Michigan community with new modalities to aid in balance restoration.

Initiation & Remembering

During Covid so many humans were seeking support, balance, truth and connection. I became overwhelmed by the number of people in extreme dysregulation. It was during this forced state of isolation and dissolving community that Phyllomedusa bicolor, ie: Kambo found me. My introduction to Kambo was a profoundly life changing 5-day event that left me forever changed. Phyllomedusa bicolor stirred my inner knowing and created connections with parts and pieces of myself that had been left uncared for, for decades. This experience encouraged me to rub up against the edges of my comfort and softly pushed me towards reuniting with my childhood, my adolescence and my early adulthood.

Rejoining the world after this experience was rocky at best. Kambo remained with me for days, weeks, even months, lovingly nudging subtle shifts within my life. It was in this interim between retreats that I felt a deep seeded calling to begin a self-practice with Kambo. I landed on Kambo International self-application training as a first step. This was exactly what I needed to remember my innate wisdom. I am forever grateful to Steve and Ginny for their care in tending this course.

When the self-application training ended, I immediately reached out to find and begin a one-on-one Kambo apprenticeship training. Angela, my mentor, encouraged partnering with Kambo in ways I would never have imagined. I was initiated. Over and Over again. Learning the power of Kambo through layered application, through creating sadhana with it, through combining it with other plant allies, through dieta, through master cleanse, through integral rice diet, through microdosing, etc. I leaned into it all with a full body YES.

Kambo has really been a divinely guided lifelong Journey of reverence for animals as teachers and the Wild World they exist in. Though completely unaware until 2020, animal medicine has been ever shaping me since birth. Finally, all the pieces fit. I belong.

It is with deep reverence I carry this medicine into the West Michigan Community. Each encounter with Kambo is a Journey within and through, often acknowledging and learning to love previous versions of you.

Where will kambo take you?

Anywhere is Possible though Intention is Everything.

“Camino Kambo” has evolved over a five-year apprenticeship with the medicine. It continues to be an act of self-love through a process of rediscovering myself over and over again. As the world around me continues to shift and change, tornado and volcano, Kambo is the medicine that returns me to the core of myself time and time again.

Join me in the Journey.

The Kambo Journey.

Camino Kambo is the Road to Self that you have been waiting for.

After sitting with Heather several times - in retreat setting, individually, and in a small group for single day sits, I cannot recommend this experience enough. Heather provides such safety, nurturing, integrity, love, support and intuitive guidance throughout the entire process. Kambo has been transformational- physically, emotionally, energetically and spiritually. Thank you Kambo! Thank you Heather!
